Energy Performance Certificates

Domestic EPCs for properties across Durham and surrounding areas

At EPC Northeast, I offer commercial energy assessments and domestic EPCs for clients in Durham and throughout Newcastle upon Tyne. Talk to me about your requirements.

EPC assessment process

The assessment usually takes around 30-45 minutes depending on the shape and size of the property. It is a non-intrusive inspection but I will need access to the heating systems such as the boiler and also the hot water tank (if the home has one). Access to the loft space if the property has a pitched roof with loft insulation is required for a visual inspection of the insulation depth. I will need to take a number of photographs of the key energy features of the property internally and externally for audit purposes only.

If you have any certificates available, you can show them to me when I visit the property especially if under the ground floor or a flat roof has been insulated where visual inspection of the insulation is not possible. Your certificates could be advantageous for the EPC rating. I cannot record that a property has various levels of insulation if it cannot be proved by visual inspection or a certificate.

Quality assurance information

I am fully insured to carry out an EPC

Elmhurst Energy are providers of Public Liability (PL) and Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance for every EPC that I carry out. PL and PI insurance is appropriate for the type of visit I will be undertaking on your property.

Elmhurst completes with Quality Assurance (QA) on energy assessments submitted by myself. In accordance with the standards set out by government, sample requests are submitted by each energy assessor for QA and feedback is always given regardless of the outcome of the assessment. The energy assessor must re-lodge the EPC (at no extra cost to the customer) if it does not meet the minimum standards and additional assessments are required. Failure to meet the minimum QA standards may result in the energy assessor being suspended or excluded from the scheme. Elmhurst Energy is also audited by the government to ensure that the scheme as a whole meets government standards.

My identity and details can be checked upon for your safety

I am issued with a valid identity card by Elmhurst. As part of the certification requirements a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is completed on each domestic energy assessor and Elmhurst will not certify any person who has a criminal record which does not meet the scheme requirements. These identity cards are issued yearly and this can be confirmed by phoning Elmhurst Energy on 08700 850490 (Monday to Friday 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM).
EPC FAQs
"Paul was very easy to get hold of and was able to perform the assessment the next day. Arrived right on time and got straight to work. He emailed me the EPC assessment the next morning and registered it on the EPC register website. A very friendly and professional guy and highly recommended."
